Donate
As well as monetary donations we are always grateful to receive donations of food (to be used while the children are in the UK, for example during our residential trip), good quality second hand clothing and shoes, toys, vitamins, basic medical supplies and toiletries. We send the children home with as many good quality clothes as possible, both for them and their families as the winter temperatures in Belarus are usually well below zero! We also try and provide the families with basic everyday medicines and painkillers which are incredibly expensive to buy in Belarus.
Programme
We are also always on the lookout for new ways to entertain the children during their stay and for people/places who can provide packed lunches/picnics for the children and interpreters, so please get in touch if you can help us with our programme.
Host
Would You Like to Host a Child?
You can help our friends in Mogilev, Belarus to give their children a chance of a brighter, healthier future by offering to host a child in your home.
Our children come from the very industrialised city of Mogilev and surrounding areas including poverty stricken small villages which are geographically much closer to the site of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, all of which are heavily polluted and the land is still very contaminated. These places have often been forgotten about in terms of international support.
Having a child from Belarus in your home for a month gives them the chance to breath fresh, unpolluted air, eat uncontaminated food and enjoy family life here in the beautiful county of Lancashire.
If you would like to discuss what is involved in becoming a host family, please contact us - we would love to hear from you.
Please note that all host families are thoroughly vetted prior to acceptance and will have the full support and guidance from the charity throughout the visits.
If you are interested in being a host, please contact the group co-ordinator Jo Thornton by phone on 01524 812461 & 07508 631228 or by email: joanne.thornton8@btinternet.com or send an email via the contact page.
Volunteers
Volunteers are always welcome to assist with the driving of minibuses & as helpers to accompany the children on their daily outings. Prospective drivers must have the D1 category on their licence. All host families & volunteers are thoroughly vetted by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) prior to acceptance and will have the full support and guidance from the charity throughout the visits.
